Lissan House is a lovely country house nestled in a 260-acre demesne of old woods and forests. The estate was built in the 17th century and served as the Staples family’s residence for over 400 years. Lissan rose to notoriety in 2003, when its popularity enabled it to reach the BBC Restoration programme’s final. The house reopened in April 2012 after substantial restoration, revealing modern interactive displays and historic family furniture that take you on a unique trip through the estate’s history and the family personalities that have influenced it. The teddy bear treasure hunt will keep the kids occupied in the house. A difficult adventure playground for youngsters, a woodland picnic spot, and a walled garden are also available on the demesne.
